Green Accommodation Program
Members of the Accommodation group worked with the Institute for Sustainabilty Education and Action (I-SEA) and the Chamber of Commerce to develop and implement the Green Accommodation program for Salt Spring Island accommodations. A number of our members already have the designation and others are working towards helping to 'green' our island and share the information with our guests.
Sharing of information
Through working together as a group we share information, network with each other and provide information and services for our guests.
This is accomplished by:
- an annual Guest Information Package that is distributed in time for the May long weekend. This is the premier information source for accommodation providers and guests for everything from Dining (complete menus!) to Recreation, Shopping, Wellness and Arts.
- e-mail updates throughout the season with news from Tourism BC, professional associations, the Chamber of Commerce and BC Ferry Corporation
- regular potluck dinners hosted by members that provide a great opportunity to get together and network
